A few months ago we started a new project, the Karwaan Centre.
In the Karwaan Center young women are taught in Tailoring and in Beautician. Each of the courses is running three times a week for around 20 to 30 young women. The tailoring classes are on Monday, Friday and Wednseday from 3pm to 6pm and the Beautician classes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 3pm to 6pm.
This training opportunity started in January and very successfully continues. The idea is to give young women an opportunity to work independently and thus to give them a secured livelihood. The women who are attending these classes are between 14 and 35 years old, so some are still going to Highschool, while others are in college or housewives.
The Syllabus is as follows:
Timing -6months (3 days –Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, 3hours (3pm-6pm)
- Different types of Hair Cuts
- Different types of Hair styling
- Products Info & its Appling Technique
Timing -6months (3 days –Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 3hours (3pm-6pm)
- Mejarment Taking
- Paper Cutting
- Cloth Cutting
- Different type of stitch
- Different type of Dress Making (Top, Salwar, Curty, Patiwala Pant, Umbrella Frock, Modhubala salwar)
We are really delighted to see the young women learn and try new things.
And we hope that through this training they get interested in earning money on their own, so they get more independent. Because of this we are really glad to announce that Chaanda Ghosh, who has a beauty parlour near Bauria Market, is going to teach the participants the different aspects of cutting hair.
For the future we are eager to see how the project will go and what other kind of beautician and tailoring things the women will learn.
