On the 23rd of February, NOSKK implemented the appeal “Nai Roshni – The Scheme for Leadership Development of Minority Women”, supported by the Ministry of Minority Affairs in India.

Background:

In India, the status of a woman is still not established good enough. Women and Children nowadays still suffer from many problems in society, especially those from disadvantaged social groups. Furthermore, women and men are in most cases still treated unequally even though women are not a minority but a marginalized majority in the country.
The empowerment of women is not only essential for equality but also constitutes a critical element in our fight for poverty reduction, economic growth, and strengthening our civil society.

Objective:

The objective of the programme is to empower, strengthen and instill confidence among Indian women. The way to achieve those things is for the women to gain more knowledge, tools, and techniques for interacting with the governmental system, bank, and other institutions and social topics like health, education, and rights. At the same time, those trained women get a chance to work in leadership roles to assert/protect the rights of women collectively or individual in their surrounded communities.

Though the programme, they can become independent and confident members of the community and spread their knowledge and skills as a leader and role model for other women.

Target Group:

Women belonging to all minorities including Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, and Jain. To create an environment of plurality and diversity and increase solidarity, tolerance, and unity, 25% of non-minority groups were also permitted and welcome.
