Handicrafts are one of the major source of income for rural women. However, lack of professional training, marketing and packaging ends into exploitation of the artisans through middle men. NOSKK in collaboration with Women in Need (WIN) has been providing a skill development training on Zari Embroidery including a special training from the Design Development Program. Presently, 240 women are trained through 12 centers with support from Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

Swawlamban Scheme
Timeline: 2000 onwards

Under the Swawlamban Scheme of West Bengal Women Development, 300 women from different blocks (Uluberia I &II ,Shyampur&Amta Block) of Howrah have been trained on Zari and Patchwork.

NOSKK Vocational Training Centre:

Timeline : 24.01.2013-Continuing

A Skill Development Training Programme on Machine Embriodery with CAD has been started with the assistance from Ambedkar Textile Industries Research Association under Integrated Skill Development Scheme of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. Theprogramme is running under the supervision of West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education & Training, Govt of West Bengal. So far 43 males & 17 females from different blocks of Howrah district have been trained under this programme and out of these 20 males & 3 females are already been engaged in different places.

Community Computer Centre:

Start from 2009-Continuing

NOSKK is also running a Community Computer Centre from 2009 for the rural youths where a total number of 2400 (1400 male & 1000 female) youths have been trained on Computer Application, DTP, FA(tally), Internet , Multimedia, Hardware Networking etc. Out of total trained candidate approximately 900 youths have already been engaged in different suitable jobs.
